Summer Session 2024:

Summer Integrates Our Awakening

Transformational Perspectives of
The Divine Feminine

Eight-week program will be an exploration of the transformational experience and comparative views of The Divine Feminine in contemporary history.

I was born in an Assyrian Eastern Christian and Roman Catholic tradition. During college, I was taken away from my original Christian heritages by
the influences of Western philosophy and freemasons who invoke The Ancient Mysteries, such as Lonergan theologians who subjugated then sacrificed the divine feminine
as noted in Freke and Gandy's The Jesus Mysteries.

Includes revealing that Robert Doran's Subject and Psyche expounds upon Lonergan's theological pursuit tcreate a
cosmopolis where accomplishing the goal
of formal world building includes
being
"in search of Sophia's blessing"
yet only to
betray or "repudiate" her in
the end.

The impact on the earth's environment in Lonergan's pursuit of
building a cosmopolis through the Creation of Patriarchy as well as one session when my personal recovery and heroine journey will be presented for open discussion.

Comparative commentary will be explored between contemporary versions of
the tragic epic of Persephone and
Ariadne and Dionysus by both Patricia Reis and Susan Rowland.

Specific attention will be given to the diversity of literary and historical interpretation, including yet not limited to reading and discussing the references:

Queen of the Sacred Way
A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Persephone

edited by Melitta Benu
includes "Meeting of the Maiden"

The Men We Long to Be:  Beyond Domination to a New Christian Understanding of Manhood
by
Dr. Stephen Boyd

Subject and Psyche:  Rico
eur, Jung, and
the Search for Foundations
by Robert Doran, S.J.

Through the Goddess:
A Woman's Way of Healing

by Patricia Reis

Remembering Dionysus
by Dr. Susan Rowland

Fall Session 2024:

Living out the Transformation

Future Perspectives for
A New Century:
The Re-Emergence of
The Divine for honoring
both Men and Women

Special attention will be given to the attendees' experiences, insights, and aspirations in this five-week course to navigate The Sophia Century.

The first two weeks will offer summaries of previous course content as well as some newly relevant content of scholarly papers, followed by dedicated and introspective journaling with reflective sharing.  Reflections will be followed by three weeks of group dialogue to collaboratively create together newly redemptive and healthy paths for both men and women.

As I affirm what Anne Baring and Jules Cashford signified in their The Myth of the Goddess,

"The terms 'feminine' and 'masculine', 'female' and 'male' have been given so many different nuances of meaning down the ages and have been the repository of so much unconscious projection that they are now utterly ambiguous until a context is provided. . . ."  They emphasize, as I complement, "we intend the terms 'feminine' and masculine' to refer to a way of being or a mode of consciousness available to both men and women."  (page 284).

Handouts will be provided.  One early preparatory reading is an article  by Robert Powell:  sophia_and_the_rose_of_the_world.pdf (sophiafoundation.org) where he notes:

"The future age of Sophia will be an age of the flourishing of community, brotherhood and sisterhood, called in The Revelation to John ‘Philadelphia’. ‘Delphos’ means the womb, ‘adelphi’ means springing from the same womb, i.e. brothers and sisters come from the same womb. ‘Philadelphia’ – that is the love that exists between brothers and sisters coming from the same womb. In a more extended sense, ‘Philadelphia’ is the community of brotherly and sisterly love."  (page 6).

Additionally, we will reflect upon and answer a variety of questions, such as those posited in the recent scholarship on the Divine Feminine at (20) Goddess Thealogy: An International Journal for the Study of the Divine Feminine Vol 1 No. 1.1 (A4) December 2011 | Patricia 'Iolana, PhD and Bobbie Grennier - Academia.edu.

"We comprehend thealogy in the following way: thealogy is concerned with the beliefs, wisdom, embodied practices, questions, and values as they relate to any religious or spiritual practice, indigenous or contemporary, that upholds the principle of an ontological Sacred Feminine. Thealogy, at its core, tries to make sense of the relationship between the Sacred Feminine/Goddess(es) and all life forms in the cosmos grounded in a feminist or post- feminist episteme. Thealogy draws attention to various ultimate questions including but not limited to the following:

Who are we in relation to the Divine Feminine?

How are we to be/become?

Why are we here?

Where are we going?

What is the purpose of my life, and

How do I live my life in such a way that is authentic to God/dess witness?"

(page 9, "Thealogy: Mapping a Fluid and Expanding Field" by Patricia ‘Iolana and Angela Hope)
